Do you know that where a person who died intestate is survived by a spouse or by a child or both a spouse and a child, the spouse or the child or both of them, is or are entitled absolutely to the household chattels (i.e jewellery, clothes, private vehicles etc) of the intestate as well as one house where the estate includes only one house? Sections 3 and 4(a) of Intestate Succession Act, 1985 (P.N.D.C L 111).
