Do you know that a person commits bigamy who, knowing that a marriage subsists between that person and another person, goes through the ceremony of marriage, whether in Ghana or elsewhere with any other person, but that person shall not be convicted of bigamy if the marriage in respect of which the act was committed and the former marriage, were both contracts under customary law? Sections 263(1) & 265(1) of Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
