Do you know that a person who unlawfully imprisons any other person either outside or within the jurisdiction of the court without the consent of that person, in a manner that prevents that person from applying to a court for release or from discovering to any other person the place of the imprisonment, commits the offence of kidnapping, a second degree felony and is liable upon conviction to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 10 years. Sections 89 & 90 (a & b) of Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and Section 296 (2) of Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).
