Do you know that a Juvenile who commits a serious offence such as murder shall be in detention not exceeding 3 years?
However where the Minister of Interior/Social Welfare, deems it fit in the superior interest of the Juvenile, may recommend to the Court for extension of the detention of the Juvenile which extension shall not exceed one year (Sections 46 & 47 of Juvenile Justice Act, 2003).
